Gerald E. Weston

Dear Brethren and Co-workers with Christ,

My secretary Monica forwarded to me this short message that she received from a fellow worker here at our Charlotte offices. “My sister just quit her good paying job as the manager of a [well-known international coffee shop franchise]. She just walked out. She said they told her that she is required to seek out and hire gays and trans and they are to get special treatment. Basically heralded and put on a pedestal. She said it was against her moral code.”

Sadly, stories like this are not rare anymore. They are becoming part of the new normal for our “brave new world.” You might wonder why I bring up this topic. What does it have to do with Christ and Christianity? Everything my friends! And it has everything to do with the mission of Tomorrow’s World.

In addition to preaching the Gospel (good news) of the coming Kingdom of God, we are to warn the people of this world of the consequences of their choices. We are witnessing the destruction of the family structure, our nations, and our world, and the book of Proverbs lays this responsibility to warn upon those of us who understand what is happening. “Deliver those who are drawn toward death, and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, ‘Surely we did not know this,’ does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?” (Proverbs 24:11-12). We see a world stumbling to the slaughter, and Christ tells us that our world is heading for the destruction of all life on Earth, except for His intervention (Matthew 24:21-22).

Deceived humans think they can save the world through the modern gods of inclusion and tolerance. Yes, we ought to be inclusive and tolerant, but these words mean something very different for social engineers of political correctness than they mean to the servants of Jesus Christ. We truly should love the person, but not love the behavior, just as we love a cancer victim but do not love the disease.

It is important to realize how amoral behaviors have been carefully packaged and sold to an unsuspecting populace. Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen’s book After the Ball was a “manifesto” on “How America Will Conquer Its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the 90’s.” These highly intelligent men formulated a well-conceived plan to do just that, and in their seminal work, they spelled out a campaign of propaganda—their word—to change America and the world. And it was carried out masterfully. This was only the beginning.

After nearly every sitcom had a character “come out of the closet” and couch-potatoes became de-sensitized—part of their plan—another push took it a step further: same-sex “marriage.” Once that battle was won, the promotion of transgenderism took front and center. Soon we were swimming in an alphabet soup of behaviors totally alien to most people: LGBTTIQQ2SA+. The plus is added for any newly discovered behaviors or ways of describing them. Some take the A to stand for “Asexual,” but others take it to mean “Allies”—those who are not involved in any of these behaviors but who applaud those who are. These are people who give thumbs up on social media and praise their friends’ bravery for “coming out of the closet.” We even learned that there is a less-than-flattering term for those of us who actually believe we are what we were biologically born: cisgender.

So why not live and let live? Why bring this up? What does this have to do with Living Church of God Members and Co-workers?

As seen in the short message quoted at the beginning of this letter, these social engineers are not satisfied with acceptance. Their goal is for all to promote and celebrate these behaviors. This is happening at a far faster pace than you might expect. Let us not forget brave Jack Phillips, the Colorado baker, who stood strong when he could not in good conscience take part in the celebration of a same-sex wedding with his artistic cakes. He eventually won his case in the U.S. Supreme Court but was immediately challenged by a trans lawyer to bake a cake that was blue on the outside and pink on the inside. That ended with Phillips countersuing the lawyer, the Colorado State Governor, and the Colorado Human Rights Commission for harassment. Apparently, the Governor, lawyer, and Commissioners decided they did not want the trauma of being on the other end of a lawsuit and both suits were dropped.

This is not something confined to the United States. Religious leaders in Scotland are concerned about a new proposed bill before Parliament. In an unprecedented move, the Catholic Church, the Free Church of Scotland, and the Evangelical Alliance came together to address a letter to the Cabinet Secretary for Justice, saying:

We are convinced that our faith is true and has a sufficient evidential basis to withstand any criticism, we therefore welcome open debate. . . . Open and honest debate on the very essence of the human person should never be stifled. . . . A right to claim that binary sex [traditional male/female] does not exist or is fluid must be matched with a right to disagree with that opinion; and protection from prosecution for holding it (Scottish Catholic Media Office, February 12, 2021).

Whenever bills are passed affirming anti-biblical behaviors, there are assurances that religious freedom will be protected. The reality is that those promoting these ideas are never satisfied with “live and let live.” Give it five years and those assurances are forgotten. Freedom of expression is not applied equally in our current environment and ultimately ends with a loss of freedom for those holding biblical values. That, dear friends, is where our world is headed!

There is also this report that was forwarded to us from Robert Tyler, our Australasian Regional Director on the other side of our planet.

TV production companies must now meet minimum diversity requirements, ensuring the inclusion of “under-represented people and perspectives”, in order for their programs to be commissioned by the ABC. . . . Production companies must also “demonstrate representation” of these communities among key staff such as writers, producers and directors; and at least half of the main cast and crew must be women or people who identify as “gender diverse” (The Sydney Morning Herald, February 15, 2021).

This is only a sampling of what is happening, and I have not addressed what our children are being taught in schools. Brethren and Co-workers, do we get it? Do we see where our world is headed? Does Jesus’ warning about the end time not ring true? “And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man. . . . Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot. . . . Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed” (Luke 17:26, 28, 30). This was not our world even 30 years ago, but it is today!

Dear friends, we must never participate in hatred toward mixed up, confused, and hurting people, but neither should we give into or become allies promoting scripturally immoral behaviors. We have a job to do, to warn the world of the consequences of rejecting our Creator, and this is becoming increasingly unpopular and difficult to carry on. Time is short—far shorter than most realize. Nevertheless, we continue to move forward.

We have recently signed contracts with new television stations. Tomorrow’s World telecast began airing on KCDO in Denver, Colorado, on Sunday, February 14 at 8:30 a.m. We are scheduled to go on WDCA television in Washington, DC, on Sundays at 7:30 a.m. beginning February 21. WABM in Birmingham, Alabama, is scheduled to begin airing on Sunday, March 21 at 10:00 a.m., and we are negotiating contracts for several other stations.

Peter Nathan, our Regional Director for the UK, Europe, and Africa, reports that our Dutch members are excited about the response level to our new Facebook ads in their country. He also reports good responses to our ads in the German language, which have generated German-language literature requests from 118 countries! These responses have forced us to hold a planning meeting to coordinate among our various offices to ensure that we can afford the costs and send the supplies. This is a good problem to have!

Brethren and Co-workers, thank you for your support in prayers and offerings. Something is happening here at Tomorrow’s World and in the world at large. As humanity descends into a new Sodom and Gomorrah, God is blessing His Work to a degree we could not imagine a year ago. This would seem to indicate that our time is short. How short we cannot know, but the God of heaven and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ are moving us forward.

We here in Charlotte appreciate you as part of our team. You are holding up our arms as Aaron and Hur held up the arms of Moses during a battle against Amalek (Exodus 17:11-13). Time is short. We must be about our Father’s business. Thank you for your dedication and zeal!

Sincerely, in Christ’s service,
Gerald E. Weston
