Dear Brethren and Co-workers with Christ,
We do not always send out a member and co-worker letter for the month of October but are doing so this year because the biblical festivals fell earlier on the calendar than in most years. Those of us who observed these special Feasts have now returned home. I say, “special Feasts” because they truly are special.
The Feast of Trumpets reminds us that Jesus Christ is coming back and that all of us who are His at His return will be resurrected to eternal life to rule with Him. The Day of Atonement gives us good news that the great troublemaker, Satan the Devil, will be removed for a thousand years from influencing mankind. The Feast of Tabernacles pictures Christ’s thousand-year millennial reign, and the Last Great Day tops off God’s plan of salvation, showing that God will not fail to give everyone who has ever lived a chance for salvation—not a second chance, but a first chance. (If this is new to you, please order a free copy of our booklet The Holy Days: God’s Master Plan for further details.)
All of the above days were kept by Jesus and His apostles. Jesus even kept the Feast of Tabernacles under the threat of death (John 7:1–10), and He will command all nations to send up representatives to Jerusalem to observe the Feast upon His return (Zechariah 14:16–19).
This is the good news, but today we see a world careening out of control. Riots in France are spreading to Belgium, Spain, and Italy. The “far-right” AfD has made significant gains in Germany, a situation that is troubling to many who fear the country is moving in the same direction it went 90 years ago, when Adolf Hitler came to power and plunged the world into the greatest conflict in human history up to that time. Bible prophecy shows that there is a far greater conflict on the horizon and Germany will again play a leading role.
Mr. Peter Nathan, our Regional Director for the UK, Europe, and Africa, recently made this comment: “The United Kingdom is increasingly displaying a sickness that will ultimately result in it turning to Assyria (Germany) for help (Hosea 5:13). This morning’s Daily Telegraph had a cartoon that brought that prophecy to mind—a diminutive Prime Minister sitting like a child on the lap of the Chancellor of Germany.”
Meanwhile, a war of attrition between Russia and Ukraine slogs on. The Middle East is in turmoil that appears to be spreading, with more countries being drawn deeper into the conflict. God tells us, “Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7). We are not prophets here at Tomorrow’s World, but we can read the writings of the prophets, and we can see what is ahead for our world.
For decades we have proclaimed, based on the Scriptures, that a German-led colossus will rise up in Europe—referred to as “the king of the North” and also “the Beast.” A combine of nations referred to as “the king of the South” will attack (King James Version: push at) this European power, which will then retaliate by moving into the Middle East, including the nation of Israel (Daniel 11:40–45).
Are we seeing conditions that will bring about a union of nations in the Middle East and North Africa that will form this king of the South? Are immigrants from that part of the world creating resentment and anger in Europe? Are these possibly the very conditions that will cause a strong leader in Europe to rise up to bring order to chaos? It would appear so.
There is also another piece of the puzzle that must show up. The current Roman pontiff was discovered to have lung cancer. Perhaps it was caught early enough—perhaps not. While we may not agree with him when it comes to the word of God, no one wishes him ill-will. He is human like the rest of us and is subject to anxiety, pain, and death. However, Pope Leo does not at this time appear to fit the description of a miracle-working religious leader spoken of in Revelation 13:11–13 and elsewhere. We do not know how serious his condition is, but it should not come as a surprise if his ability to serve is cut short. Nor do we know who the final prophesied religious leader will be, but other events are quickly moving in the direction the Bible reveals for the end-time.
Nevertheless, it is difficult to know exactly how much time is left. The Bible tells us that the fall of Israel will come suddenly. (Israel is more than the tiny nation at the eastern end of the Mediterranean. For a greater understanding of this, please see our resource The United States and Great Britain in Prophecy.) There are events that must yet take place. Expect surprises in the next few months. Christ’s return may not be immediately upon us quite yet, but we must never forget that the Bible tells us that the return of Christ will come “at an hour you do not expect” (Matthew 24:42–44; Luke 12:40; 1 Thessalonians 5:1–4).
We are always thankful that you have voluntarily chosen to support this work of the living God. We understand that we have a job to do. We must proclaim to the whole world the good news of Christ’s coming Kingdom. We must give a warning to the nations of Israel and to the world of the greatest time of trouble ever known to mankind—a time rushing toward us unless we turn from our evil ways. And we must feed the flock—those who are called and respond to God’s calling at this time. Thank you, dear friends, for doing your part in this work.
Sincerely, in Christ’s service,
Gerald E. Weston
