Dear Tomorrow’s World Subscriber,
Very warm greetings to all of you, and a special greeting to the thousands of you who are new to Tomorrow’s World. Twice each year, Editor in Chief of Tomorrow’s World, Dr. Roderick C. Meredith, wrote to our magazine subscribers updating everyone on world affairs and progress in this Work and offered something special. Sadly, he is no longer able to do this due to failing health, and he has appointed me to follow his example.
I hope all of you were able to watch Mr. Wallace Smith’s Tomorrow’s World telecast, Descending into Chaos. WOW! What an insightful and powerful message, delivered with logic and compassion! As Mr. Smith points out, our world is spinning out of control, and it truly is descending into chaos on multiple fronts. This can be very discouraging for those who do not understand why this is happening and what will be the outcome, but longtime followers of Tomorrow’s World know that there is good news in the end. As Jesus tells us, “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near” (Luke 21:28).
These things that Jesus refers to are found in the preceding verses of Luke 21, where He speaks of religious deception, wars, famine, disease epidemics and persecutions. One would think that mankind could progress past these foolish and destructive behaviors. After all, why can’t we, as intelligent beings, solve these problems? Why do we still see social injustice? Why racial, ethnic, and religious strife? Why do we see increasing terrorist attacks? Why do wars and rumors of wars swirl about us?
The answers are very clear. The Bible is a most remarkable book, and God reveals His mind to us in its pages! He predicted long ago to the people of Israel that, if they rejected Him and His commandments, severe punishments would be the result. Notice this stern warning found in Leviticus 26: “But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments, and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant, I also will do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it” (vv. 14–16). This is God’s mind on the subject of rebellion against Him! Do we see a world that despises His commandments? Then we should not be surprised that the result would be increasing terrorist attacks! This is only the beginning. Many other painful consequences will follow.
Our Western nations have rejected God’s law. Yes, we have despised it. We entertain ourselves with sex and violence. Fornication (that is, sex prior to marriage), adultery, homosexuality, transgenderism, violent video games, and a host of other ills plague our societies. Belief in God, and believing what He tells us, is foolishness to a rebellious generation. “The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God; God is in none of his thoughts” (Psalm 10:4). The word of God is amazingly accurate. Those who take God’s warnings lightly do so at their own peril!
Is it not significant that God predicted more than 2500 years ago the very word that homosexual activists use to describe their movement? Sodom was known for its gross sexual license, and Ezekiel equates Sodom to end time behavior. “Look, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughter had pride, fullness of food, and abundance of idleness; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy” (Ezekiel 16:49).
The Bible reveals the causes of our problems as well as the solutions. We think we are in charge of our lives. We think that we can solve our own problems apart from God. Look around you. How are we doing? What news headlines are you reading?
How is it that we at Tomorrow’s World can know that instead of mankind solving his problems, they will grow ever worse? The answer is found in the pages of the book known as the Bible. “But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived” (2 Timothy 3:13).
Tomorrow’s World not only discusses world news, but also gives the news behind the news. And what is behind much of what we see happening in our world, is the result of an evil unseen hand. Few people realize that there is a real spirit world at work that explains why mankind continues to spiral down the wrong path. The Apostle Paul tells us: “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience” (Ephesians 2:1–2).
It is no longer fashionable to speak of the Devil, but that is exactly who Paul referred to in this passage. He calls him the “prince of the power of the air.” In other words, Satan broadcasts thoughts, moods and attitudes into unsuspecting human minds. That is how he directs the course of this world! That is how he promotes disobedience. That is why people profess to love Jesus, but do the opposite of what He instructs! “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46).
My dear friends, how about you? Do you tremble before the word of God? For as God spoke through Isaiah, “But on this one will I look: on him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at My word” (Isaiah 66:2).
The last book of the Bible, the book of Revelation, reveals something that is difficult for mainstream professing Christians to accept. There we read of a great dragon cast down to the earth at the time of the end, whose goal is deception: “So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him” (Revelation 12:9). Yes, he deceives the whole world, but how do we square that with the fact that professing Christianity is the largest religion on earth? When 31 percent of the earth’s population professes Christianity, how can the Bible be correct in saying that Satan the Devil “deceives the whole world”?
At some point we must all come to a fork in the road, and Tomorrow’s World fearlessly points to where that fork is. I am reminded of a meeting I once held in Bay City, Michigan. We did not call it a Tomorrow’s World Presentation as we do today when we hold special meetings for subscribers and followers of this Work, but it was a similar meeting. During the meeting, I mentioned that Christmas is pagan. One startled fellow reflexively burst out loud, “What?” Afterward, he came up and asked what I meant by that statement and I explained to him what virtually all authorities recognize, that the celebration of Jesus’ birth is full of pre-Christian pagan traditions, including the date, which was anciently considered the birthday of the sun. I then encouraged him not to take my word for it, but to look into it for himself. I also encouraged him to carefully look into other supposedly Christian doctrines and traditions.
He later called for me to stop by and visit him. He told me that he checked into it and I was correct. We had a few other visits at his request where we discussed this and other religious deceptions. The last time I saw him, he told me that he believed that everything we taught was accurate, but he had come to that fork in the road: repent and obey God, or continue “to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin” (Hebrews 11:25). He chose the latter, but his choice was shortsighted. Someday we are all going to die, and we are warned: “For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever” (1 John 2:16–17).
An evil being directs the course of this world and its religions, and he does everything in his power to deceive you into believing he is not real. At the same time, he wants you and your children to dabble in his worship. Have you noticed how filled our world is becoming with themes involving magic, wizardry, witches and demons?
