Weekly Update

November 16th, 2000

Greetings to all of you:

As reported last week, Mr. Meredith was in Chicago for an open service. We sent out invitations to subscribers in the area to attend an open service to hear and meet Mr. Meredith.

I understand that there were between 60 and 80 visitors of the 205 in attendance.

Mr. Richard Ames will speak at an open service in Jasper, Alabama this Sabbath. We pray for a good attendance there, and perhaps the formation of a group will follow.

I have told that we have a "false prophet" in our office. I have investigated the matter, and it is true that on the surface we have had a false prediction. How did this happen? It seems that while I was out of town my friend, Dibar Apartian, wrote to you, "Rather than close with my 'usual' salutations, may I close with a SURE PROPHECY? By the time you receive CAD's next report, this country will have a new President!" Mr. Apartian insists that his prophecy was correct — we just do not know who he is! Actually, he said in his defense today that we might have two of them (Whoa)! One will be quite enough, thank you!

Additionally, it is reported that the Queen of England has, (because of the current state of political affairs in America) rescinded our INDEPENDENCE — and is demanding payment of back taxes for two hundred and twenty-four years. Each of us had better check our bank accounts, because the Queen may have attached our accounts for payment! If you need the full text of this report, I will attempt to supply it. My friend who supplied us with the "Texas Three Kick Rule" sent the report in and we have not had time to check with HRH Queen Elizabeth about the veracity the report.

I received the following message from an international source: "I get BBC 1 here in Rotterdam. The other day, I was watching the question/answer period of the British parliament. William Hague, leader of the opposition conservatives, asked Tony Blair directly, if he supported the German Foreign Ministers recent suggestion that the EU have one elected head. In phrasing his question, he stated, 'Has the Prime Minister ever heard of a super power which has not had a leader?' Of which the Labor side all yelled out, ' America!!' "

There is some reason to believe that a judge or judges will decide the next American president, which someone has observed, will make us a "judge-ocracy." This prompts me to include the following story (oh how painful!):

An attorney was on his deathbed in the hospital. When a friend came to visit, he found the lawyer frantically leafing through the Bible. "What are you doing?" the visitor asked. The sick lawyer replied, "Looking for loopholes."

Well, I have no significant updates from Media, Financial, Executive or International areas this week. We are all busy digging out from under the backlog of work, which accumulated during the Feast break. I will try to get reports on the Feast attendance and news of the work together for next week. For now I will close with the following report from Mr. Syd Hull.

REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA:

The following report was just received from Mr. Hull.

Just a few lines to let you know about the latest developments. We had by far the best FOT we have ever had. Such unity and togetherness of God's people was really something thrilling to behold! No bad attitudes whatsoever! No pride and vanity! The special music was truly inspired! Our highest attendance was 140. As can be expected the exceptional high of the feast and the contrast of what they came back to after FOT was very great.

From very high and inspiring to this world's very low and discouraging situation.

Everyone is earnestly praying for God's Kingdom to come and that He will help us to finish His Work! We have since FOT, seven prospective baptisms in the pipeline and eight new visits. All this is very encouraging and we are very thankful for God's blessings.

On the Sabbath of 11 November, the Pretoria Church of God was officially established. The attendance for the first service was 37. There will now be a regular Sabbath service for this Church as for the Johannesburg Church. We are all very thankful for the growth of God's work in South Africa.

That is very encouraging news from South Africa. Have a great Sabbath, everyone. In addition, those of you in the northern regions, keep warm and keep safe as you travel on the highways.
