Weekly Update

June 22nd, 2001

Greetings from San Diego,

How many of you felt overwhelmed by circumstances outside of your control during this week? Satan has created an environment in most "developed" countries today that places nearly impossible demands upon people. Impossible demands lead to incredible responses.

This week we learned of an incredible incident-a mother going "berserk" and drowning her five children. Now those who love and care are faced with the awful task of sorting out the cause and consequences of her action.

Having reared five children of my own, I cannot comprehend such a thing. I understand the demands five children make upon a man and his wife-financially and emotionally-but I cannot find in my mind or heart any justification for such an action on the part of a mother-or father. It is as incomprehensible as the Inquisition of the Middle Ages or as the Holocaust of the forties.

So we pray "Thy Kingdom come."

Festival Department

I have received inquiries about the announcement included last week from Dr. Winnail concerning the Feast in Ireland. He stated that on the Sabbath during the Feast, services would be held in a castle because the hotel meeting hall would not be available to us. Some have worried about the "castle berries" I mentioned last week. Don't worry about them, or about having to harvest them! I have been given to understand that they became extinct at the same time as the medieval dragon. Perhaps they were dragon fodder…?

Conclusion:

I am happy to announce that the Sacramento congregation had a new addition this week. Rod and Dana McNair announced the birth of Andrew Jeffrey, born Tuesday, June 19, at 6:38 a.m. weighing 7 pounds 13 ounces. I hear that his parents and his grandparents are quite proud of him!

Have a great Sabbath Day! Please travel safely.
