Weekly Update

September 10th, 2026

Greetings from Charlotte,

There is a lot happening of late. The AfD party in Germany scored a major win, causing much concern over a far-right party eventually gaining power over the whole country and taking Germany down a dangerous path once again. Messrs. Rod McNair and Douglas Winnail authored the booklet Germany in Prophecy, which points out that the country is given to sudden dramatic changes. Please review this resource as you see changes taking place in Europe. The wars in Iran and Ukraine continue to escalate along dangerous lines. Meanwhile, London’s Heathrow Airport, Miami International Airport, and some Indonesian airports were shut down due to technical issues, a plane going off the runway, and the Anak Krakatau volcanic eruption—stranding and disrupting the plans of literally hundreds of thousands of travelers worldwide. We must never forget who the god of this age is and how he hates the Feast days that are now upon us. Let us pray for the safety of all our members and Festival sites and do our part in traveling safely. And let us never forget the reason we observe these important days. —Gerald E. Weston

The Watchman’s Message

Throughout history, God has sent prophets to warn His people that, if they disobey His laws and despise His statutes, they will reap serious consequences (Leviticus 26:14–19). Yet modern Israelite nations are largely ignorant of this sobering warning. Today, political and religious leaders are actively promoting values and behaviors that clearly violate the laws of God, such as abortion (Exodus 20:13), homosexuality (Leviticus 18:22; Genesis 2:24), and transgenderism (Deuteronomy 22:5). The Bible labels these actions sins and abominations. Isaiah was told, “Cry aloud… tell My people their transgression” (Isaiah 58:1). Jeremiah warned that nations forsaking God’s laws would enter a time of trouble as a result (Jeremiah 2:19; 30:7). Ezekiel was given a commission to be a watchman and carry this warning to the Israelite nations (Ezekiel 3:16–21; 33:1–11), and that is our mission today. Let’s pray for strength and help to complete that mission. —Douglas S. Winnail

News and Prophecy

A World Preparing for War

Today, more than a dozen regions on earth are embroiled in serious military conflicts. Modern battlefronts involve more than just uniformed soldiers, including increasingly sophisticated technology—such as A.I.-controlled drones and weaponry—with potential for devastating humanitarian impact. “On its own, the Second Congo War was… the deadliest conflict since World War II” (ConcernUSA.org, July 31, 2026).

Military conflicts in one region can create conflicts in others. Russia is reportedly supplying parts, ammunition, and explosives to enhance Iran’s war efforts. Apparently, it is also sharing satellite imagery and intelligence with Tehran, while carrying on a ground war against Ukraine (International Business Times, August 18, 2026). Ukrainian military intelligence reports that “North Korea reportedly deployed drone operators to Kursk Oblast to support Russia’s war in Ukraine” (Institute for the Study of War, August 21, 2026). This is in addition to the thousands of North Korean troops observed operating alongside those of Russia. The United States is at war with Iran (Global Conflict Tracker, August 26, 2026), while also carrying out military operations or security commitments involving Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and Somalia. America is also providing military support to Ukraine and Israel. The Pakistan and Afghanistan border actions have also heated up, and Pakistan has declared “open war” on “Afghanistan’s Taliban government” (The Guardian, February 27, 2026).

Revelation 6:1–8 reveals four symbolic horsemen who will ride in sequence at the end of the age. The second of these horsemen is given “a great sword” to “take peace from the earth,” such that “people should kill one another” (v. 4). We are witnessing the nations of the world preparing for the prophesied conflicts to come. Distressing as this is, there is light at the end of the tunnel—yet there are prophetic milestones to be passed before that light manifests. To find out what those mile markers are, read or listen to Fourteen Signs Announcing Christ’s Return.

“The Old Nuclear Order Is Dead”

A recent article by that title in the Washington Post opens with the following surreal statement: “The world is sleepwalking into a new nuclear arms race. As arms-control treaties hashed out over decades lapse, countries that formerly rejected possessing nuclear weapons are starting to reconsider” (August 16, 2026). This is “the first time since the early 1970s” that there is “no legally binding limits on US and Russian strategic nuclear forces without another agreement being under negotiation” (Chatham House, January 26, 2026)—and those two nations collectively control 86 percent of all nuclear weapons on earth. China now has over 600 nuclear warheads and continues to expand its stockpile. According to some estimates, North Korea has assembled 50 warheads and has enough nuclear material for 40 more. South Korea and Japan are now seriously considering acquiring nuclear weaponry, and most South Koreans are supportive of the idea.

Europe is also moving forward with massive defense spending (CBC, June 12, 2026), and several European nations have implemented military conscription. Germany is poised to spend US$1 trillion on defense over the next decade, as is Russia. And many believe the clock is ticking. German defense minister Boris Pistorius said of a possible war between Russia and European powers, “Our experts say it can happen in 2029.” The world would appear to be marching toward Armageddon!

The future of our increasingly dangerous world is revealed in the biblical Feast of Trumpets. This prophetic Holy Day symbolizes events that will lead up to the second coming of Jesus Christ.
